Fees & Donations

The revenue gathered from our ticket revenue covers the cost of producing each individual show with the majority of that revenue, typically 75 – 90%, going directly to artist-related expenses including the artist fee.
Donations and contributed income cover about 30% of our overall revenue but the remaining earned income that fuels 70% of our revenue is important to maintain in order to achieve substantiality on an annual basis. Beyond the costs of producing events and staffing, we also face considerable ongoing maintenance and capital costs to keep our historic building in working order.

Stiefel Friends

Diverse cultural experiences, local, regional and the top tours in the country coming through, a vibrant community — It all happens at the Stiefel and it’s all because of you. Since re-opening in 2003 after a three-year, community-led renovation, the Stiefel Theatre has become one of the region’s premier venues for live music. As a non-profit theater, ticket sales and other earned income cover only a portion of our costs, and we need the help of community members like you to continue to cover the daily operational costs of running the theater. In addition to the benefits listed below all Friends receive email notification about our new shows, restaurant discount cards, and program recognition.

Corporate Sponsors

As a nonprofit performing arts center, The Stiefel Theatre averages about 45 events each year, attracting approximately 40,000 patrons to Downtown Salina. The Stiefel prides itself on presenting a broad array of programming creating a reason for everyone in our community and region to take a seat and take in a show. The variety of what we present creates sponsorship possibilities for businesses of all kinds. We will work with you to design a sponsorship package unique to your business and its goals, whether you’d like to attach your name to a single event, a series, special events or capital improvements. We work to customize a sponsorship that is perfect for you.
Contact Jane Gates at or 785-827-1998 to learn more about sponsorships at the Stiefel and explore the possibilities.

The Stiefel Theatre Endowment Fund was established several years ago. We hope you may consider the endowment during your estate planning and giving. Not only does a donation to the endowment offer you significant tax benefits in return, but it also provides an opportunity for your generosity to become a tangible legacy, leaving your name on some part of the theater that was built from the ground up by the generosity of this community.

Capital Campaign

The Stiefel Theatre has conducted two capital campaigns since reopening in 2003. The first campaign included contributions from hundreds of area households and businesses. This campaign was a success due to the support of the City of Salina that repaired the roof and made a large contribution, the generosity of contributors, a large donation from Milton Stiefel and a dedicated board of directors. The Stiefel Theatre fully owns the historic property. The second campaign will be kicking off soon and will raise funds to build a new tower and repair existing brickwork.
