Adult Piano
Bring the joy of music to your life while getting to know others in this adult piano class. Learn basic piano skills and simple tunes or brush up and advance your skills. Every student will play on their own keyboard in a state-of-the-art Yamaha Piano Lab. This class is designed to meet the adult at their level of proficiency, whether beginner or intermediate. Our experienced instructor will guide you through the fundamentals of piano playing, including proper hand positioning, reading music notation, and building essential techniques. For those with some prior experience, please bring past piano music. In this supportive environment, everyone will have the opportunity to progress at your own pace and discover the joy of making music.

The Stiefel has 8 Yamaha keyboards for students to use in class. Each student will have their own keyboard with headphones. Access to a piano or keyboard is needed for at home practice.
Please bring a pencil with an eraser and a folder for handouts.
Beginning students will need Faber Adult Piano Adventures All-in-One Piano Course book(spiral) and Faber Adult Level 1 Popular, Classics, OR Christmas Adult Piano Book, your choice of one of those three books: Popular, Classics, or Christmas. (Books are available online or at SM Hanson Music.) These books have mint green covers.
Experienced pianists, please bring past piano music books with to class. Suggestions for intermediate lesson books will be made after the instructor and student visit about their piano goals.

Students will review all notes on the staff and will learn:
●Rhythms: quarter, eighth, half, whole and dotted half notes
●Introduction of finger numbers
●Time Signatures
●Reading Staff Notes in Treble Clef and Bass Clef
● Proficiency in playing with 2 hands
